research :

teaching and learning

Funded by LSE's Eden Centre, the delivery of the course is set within a research agenda which seeks to build insight into the ways in which educational practitioners and institutions might positively add to the student learning experience.

The research agenda aims to better understand the following:

  • The extent to which working with peers from different courses, with different disciplinary backgrounds, across a diverse department such as Geography & Environment, might encourage students to consider ideas from multiple perspectives and push the boundaries of their own thinking.

  • The extent to which working with contemporary art opens-up different ways of examining topics, expanding the kinds of theoretical tools available to students.

  • The extent to which working to deliver a creative output encourages students to think critically about modes and methods of communication, as well as impact.

  • The experience of learning in a non-credited course, including, but not limited to, the extent to which a non-credited course allows students to chart their own learning trajectory and take risks in their thinking.

Key outputs will include:

  •  A case study report on the research findings.

  • A teaching pack to be shared with others looking to deliver a similar course, including reading lists, session worksheets, templates for exhibition curation and production, and templates for research, reflection and development.

  • Suggested ways of extending the course to other students.
